Village Life French Alps
Set in the French Alps near the Swiss border, the Savoie region offers dramatic mountain landscapes, clear glacial lakes, and villages shaped by centuries of history. This 9-day, 8-night land journey is based in Annecy, with a single stay at the Imperial Palace Hotel on the shores of Lake Annecy, allowing for relaxed exploration of the surrounding region. Excursions include a visit to the Château de Menthon-Saint-Bernard and a private tour of a traditional bell foundry, along with scenic outings that reveal alpine peaks, a glacier, an ice cave, and a river-carved gorge. In small towns throughout the region, meet local artisans and sample regional products such as wine, cheese, coffee, and hazelnut and walnut oils, alongside classic Savoyard dishes including raclette and tartiflette. Travel by boat across Lake Annecy, ride a cable car above Chamonix for views of Mont Blanc, and ascend to Europe’s largest glacier aboard a cogwheel train. Throughout the week, the focus remains on the region’s landscapes, culinary traditions, and everyday culture.
