Since 1961, the Flying Longhorns have taken more than 30,000 Texas Exes (and their friends and family) all over the world.Whether it’s an Icelandic Northern Lights excursion or a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal, at the Flying Longhorns, we promise to make both far-flung and close-to-home destinations fun, safe and accessible. We handle all the details, so you can show up ready to have the time of your life.

Every trip booked through the Texas Exes’ Flying Longhorns program helps further the association’s mission of uniting alumni and friends of The University of Texas around the world. While you don’t have to be an alumnus of UT to join our tours, we do ask that our travelers carry an active Texas Exes membership. Happily, memberships start at just $50.

FAQs

Who can travel on these amazing trips? Do I have to be a UT alum? Can I invite my friends?

How do I make a reservation?

You can book most of our trips at travel.texasexes.org, or you can contact the Flying Longhorns office at 800-594-3900 or travel@texasexes.org. Reservations will be honored on a first come, first served basis with a paid deposit. Early booking is encouraged to ensure availability. If the trip of your choice is full, you can be placed on a waitlist–and hopefully accommodated later–or we are happy to suggest alternate trips to a similar destination! If a trip has not met a minimum number of participants by 120 days
prior to departure, the trip could be rescheduled or cancelled.

Can I travel by myself, or do I need to find a roommate?

Many of our frequent travelers fly solo! We offer quite a few trips each year with no “single supplement” fee. All our trips can be booked as single occupancy, but an added fee might apply. If you are traveling solo but open to sharing a room, please let us know and we will try and match you with a roommate. All single and double occupancy pricing details can be found at travel.texasexes.org or by contacting the travel office at 800-594-3900 or travel@texasexes.org.

How strenuous are your trips? How much walking is required?

To enjoy the Flying Longhorns experience, participants have the responsibility to select a trip appropriate to match their abilities and interests. The tour staff is responsible for the group as a whole and will not be able to assist individuals. For most trips, travelers will need to be able to climb stairs that may not have handrails, navigate uneven surfaces, walk for a mile, and keep pace with the rest of the group during full days that start early. Please give us a call to chat about your individual needs and the varying requirements of different destinations.
